A guide to askingGetting help with AI code

AI wrote the code?
You explain the problem.

Explain what you ran, what you expected, and where it failed. A long generated transcript is not a substitute for that context.

A conversation that stalls

AI gave me this code and it will not run. Here is the entire conversation. Can someone fix it?

Someone has to find the goal, relevant code, and actual error inside a long transcript.

A question someone can answer

Sara

I used an AI tool to help convert CSV to JSON. This small example fails on empty input. I expect an empty array; I included the input and actual error. Which part of the input handling should I investigate?

The origin of the code is clear, and there is a specific problem to investigate.

Verify before you share

Isolate the relevant code, run it, and capture the actual error. If you do not understand a section, identify it and ask how its logic works. You do not need to pretend you wrote the code yourself.

When answering others, do not forward generated text without checking it. Open its sources, test the example, and explain limitations. Follow the community’s rules about AI-assisted contributions.

Keep confidential data out of your questions and AI tools. The aim is to investigate the problem, whoever or whatever wrote the code.
